Seasonality at the Oakmont Farmers Market

We’re in the midst of full-blown summer now, able to enjoy almost all of the produce that can be grown in this area… Remnants of spring’s delicious harvest linger (English peas, a few pod peas, chards and other cool-season crops), the lettuces haven’t yet pooped out because of heat, and the tomatoes and corn are roaring into their mid-summer glory. A few of our favorites aren’t yet ready, however; they are either late summer or fall crops… such as Brussel sprouts, winter squashes, and okra. And just in case you are wondering when your favorite vegetable might finally show up at the market, here’s a handy chart to explain seasonality in Pennsylvania.
