Dr. William Woys Weaver at Market for Opening Day!

The start of the 2018 Oakmont Farmers Market Season is only days away… the first day of market is Wednesday, May 16th: Grace Chapel Parking Lot from 3 until 7pm. Mark your calendar!

We are so excited to start this new year and we hope you are too!

On Wednesday, May 16th we have a Special Event to open the season. We will have a very special guest who is a renowned expert on heirloom vegetable gardening. Come to the market and meet Dr. William Woys Weaver, who will be at Oakmont from 3:30-5:30 signing his book Heirloom Vegetable Gardening: A Master Gardener’s Guide to Planting, Seed Saving, and Cultural History. Dr. Weaver’s updated book is a gardener’s encyclopedia for how to grow more than 300 varieties of plants.

“This book is sure to be a modern classic and is one of the most important books on gardening in the current century.”
– Jere Gettle, founder, Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds

There will be a limited number of copies of the book for sale at the market and to ensure you get one… you can reserve your own copy by emailing Janet Chrzan at jchrzan@upenn.edu.

You can learn more about Dr. Weaver and order seeds from the Roughwood Seed Collection (the heirloom seeds he has brought back into cultivation) directly from Baker Creek: https://www.rareseeds.com/william-woys-weaver-/
