Easy Apple Sauce
- Apples – as many as you have
- Maple syrup (the real stuff) or honey – about 2 tbsp per pound of apple
- Peel the apples, core them, and cut into chunks. Place in a non-reactive saucepan and add the maple syrup or honey. Turn the heat on low, and let the apples cook until the chunks become a bit mushy but still retain some shape. Stir occasionally to make sure that they aren’t sticking to the bottom of the pan – they shouldn’t, if your heat is low enough. I cooked them for about half an hour, and they were really delicious. I had fine plans to freeze the sauce but it was just too delicious and we ate it all up in two days. It was particularly tasty topped with plain yoghurt for breakfast.
