Lagniappe: How to freeze blueberries

Lagniappe: How to freeze blueberries
Recipe type: Preservation

Blueberries are very easy to freeze and will keep for many months in the freezer, so you can make blueberry granita in October if you want…
Ingredients
  • Blueberries
Instructions
  1. First, wash your berries and make sure all the berries are in good shape; don’t freeze mashed berries. Check for and remove stems. Then dry the berries thoroughly by air-drying on a kitchen towel.
  2. Once the berries are dry place them on a cookie sheet and shake to make sure that, as much as possible, they aren’t touching each other. Then place the cookie sheet in the freezer. When the berries are rock-hard frozen pour them into a freezer bag for storage. The goal here is to freeze the berries individually so that they don’t become mashed as they would if you were to just wash and bag before freezing.
